What We Offer - Schools

We deliver high quality, inclusive relationship sex and health education via fun and interactive classroom workshops, assemblies, and small groups. Our curriculum is build around our loved, valued, able model; equip young people to make confident and informed relationship choices, based on understanding their own emotional, mental, and physical needs, as well as the needs of others. LVA also provide one-to-one therapeutic and reactive mentoring for young people who need extra support or who have been involved in a situation at school that needs further short term intervention. In our experience every school community is different, therefore we endeavour to work with each school to tailor our offering to their unique requirements.

In order to bolster the ongoing support and education of young people in RSHE we have developed parent talks and a teacher training program, aligned to our 6 core themes, to be delivered in conjunction with our curriculum.

Classroom Workshops

Our classroom workshops employ three learning styles - kinaesthetic, visual and audio – supported by a variety of activities, focused discussion, debate and media. This enables every student to participate and learn in a way that truly resonates with them. Our programme is designed to build on knowledge year by year, in an age-appropriate way. We know that when RSE is delivered in an engaging and empowering way, which allows a safe space for discussing issues which may be taboo in other settings – young people are more likely to take ownership of their social and cultural context and bring about change where needed; whether internally or externally!

Assemblies

Our assemblies are more information based and designed to inform and build knowledge. Facilitated by one of our expert RSE educators, assemblies can be a great way to introduce RSE topics such as online etiquette, mental health, emotional well-being, healthy relationships and all that entails. They are also a fast and effective way to deal with ‘current trends’ as and when they arise.

Small Groups

At LVA, we are passionate about seeing young people thrive in all areas and aspects of life. Just as our name says, we want young people to know that they are loved, they are valued for who they are and enabled to make informed decisions in their life and relationships. As educators, we want to equip young people to have a growth mindset and our small groups support their development with the skills and confidence needed to build self-esteem, thrive in their relationships, understand their sexual health and build emotional resilience. Our courses run for six weeks with a maximum of eight students to make sure that every young person gets the time needed to benefit from the sessions. We provide an end of course evaluation with feedback and ongoing development advice for each participant to the school.

Therapeutic Mentoring

Relationships are such a large part of life and can influence all aspects of it - especially in the formative teenage years. Young people are exploring where they fit and what they want to do with their lives. This is a journey of discovery that each young person will go on at some point and for some it can be easier than for others. Through our therapeutic mentoring programme, we support students who are finding it harder to navigate those paths or who have been knocked off course due to circumstances out of their control. Through a series of therapeutic exercise and activities, over 20 weeks we journey with our mentee’s, using our three-pronged approach (loved, valued, able), which we believe underpins life, to provide young people with the tools that they need to be able to ‘live their best life’.

Teacher Training

LVA deliver a variety of teacher training. We will facilitate training and support on the following topics:

  • Creating safe spaces

  • Policy development & implementation

  • Subject delivery training

  • Interactive training days

  • Breakdown of government guidelines and what that means for you

The cost for this training is negotiated based on need. We want to be able to help relieve financial burdens where possible.

Parent Talks

In addition to workshops for young people, we work alongside parents, as being supported at home is a vital part of healthy development. At LVA we are passionate about parents being supported and enabled to engage in the tough – and sometimes awkward – challenges young people face. One of the ways we do this is through parent talks.

Parent Talk Topics:

  • Supporting emotional well-being and self-esteem

  • Developing body positivity

  • Modelling empowered relationships

  • Understanding consent & coercion

  • Instilling healthy online behaviour

  • reproductive and sexual health (puberty and beyond)
